Alright, you got your new Microsoft Band, no smartwatch, and now you’re eager to get started. But before you can actually start tracking your fitness activities with the wristband, you have to pair the device with your phone (Windows Phone, iPhone, or Android).

The first thing you have to do after purchasing the Microsoft Band, is to install Microsoft Health app in your Windows Phone, iPhone, and Android. You’ll need to sign in with a Microsoft account, so if you don’t have an Xbox, Hotmail, Outlook.com, or OneDrive account, you’ll need to create an account (don’t worry you can create one during the setup process). If you use one of Microsoft’s cloud services, you’re already set.

How to pair your Microsoft Band with your phone

Pairing your Band with your phone and Microsoft Health app is pretty straightforward:

  • Press the power button on the Microsoft Band, and tap Get Started.
  • Go to your phone, open the Microsoft Health app and sign in with your Microsoft account. If you don’t have an account with Microsoft, tap Sign up now to create one.
  • In your phone, whatever platform it may be, go to the Bluetooth settings, turn it on, and tap on MSFT Band from the list of devices available for pairing. (Keep in mind that in some phones pairing can be done through the Microsoft Health app.)
  • Once you check the PIN codes in your phone and the one from the band, finish pairing the devices. If by a chance, the codes don’t match, tap cancel and try again.

Getting to know your Band

To get more familiar with the Microsoft Band below are two images that show you all the parts:

Press the power button on the Microsoft Band, and tap Get Started.

Go to your phone, open the Microsoft Health app and sign in with your Microsoft account. If you don’t have an account with Microsoft, tap Sign up now to create one.
