You can now use the Google VPN service on your Android phone, and in this guide, you will learn how to use it for free.

A virtual private network (VPN) is one of the most popular methods for hiding your IP address by letting a service redirect your traffic through a specially configured remote server. When you connect to a VPN server, the connection between your device and service will be encrypted, and the VPN server becomes the source for anyone else.

In other words, a VPN hides your IP address, protecting you from hackers on unsecured networks and minimizing online tracking for better privacy.

As part of the Google One subscription service, Google now provides the VPN feature as a free service for Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro phones. You will need a subscription to access the feature if you don’t have any of these phones.

This guide will teach you the steps to get started with the Google VPN service on Android devices.

  • Enable Google VPN on Android
  • Allow apps to bypass Google VPN

To enable Google VPN for free on your Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro, use these steps:

  • Turn on the Use VPN toggle switch to connect.
  • Turn off the VPN toggle switch to disconnect. Or pull down the notification center and tap the “Disable VPN” or “Snooze” option.
