We write this feature during a strange time, when friends and family may find themselves isolated from each other, and everything feels a little bit dystopian. Online video communication is one way to offset the lockdown blues during the coronavirus outbreak, and it’s even better if you can do extra things like share your screen with friends.

Skype is one of the most popular video chat platforms out there, so we’re going to show you how to share your screen with friends using the platform. It won’t take long!

First, open the Skype app and start a video or voice call with one of your friends.

Next, in the bottom-right corner of the Skype window, click the icon with two overlapping squares (next to the heart icon).

The next screen will preview what your shared screen will look like. If you have more than one display or virtual desktop, you’ll be able to select the one you want to share. When you’re ready, click “Share screen.”

Share Screen on Skype for Android/iOS

You can do the same thing if you have the mobile (Android/iOS) version of Skype. Start a call, then tap the three-dotted ‘More’ icon in the corner and tap the screen-sharing icon (two overlapping squares).

That should cover you for screen-sharing on Skype. You can also do screen-sharing on Facebook or or choose another method after reading our list of ways to watch videos with friends online.
