How Does Xbox Series X or S Game Streaming to PC Work

The Xbox Console Companion only works with Xbox One, and the newer Xbox app doesn’t include any kind of streaming functionality. Until Microsoft adds that functionality, the only way to stream your Xbox Series X or S to your PC is with the Xbox App for PC.

You can’t download the Xbox Game Streaming (Test App) directly from the Microsoft Store, but you can navigate to the ‘store.rg-adguard.net’ site to generate a download link. This site takes a link from the Microsoft Store and generates a link to the relevant downloadable file, directly from Microsoft’s servers. Since the files come from Microsoft, they’re safe.

This app isn’t guaranteed to work on all computers, and it’s likely to break and stop working while it’s still in development.

If and when Microsoft enables game streaming directly from the PC Xbox app, you will be able to stream from that app and uninstall the beta Xbox Game Streaming (Test App). Until then, the beta app is your only option. Additionally, you may need to download a new version of the beta app from time to time, as functionality may break during the beta period for any number of reasons.

If you want to stream your Xbox Series X or S games with an official method that works all the time, the Xbox Android app lets you stream your console to your phone. If you have a Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you can also play Xbox Series X or S games.

To download the Xbox Game Streaming (Test App), you need to use a third party site that locates the file on Microsoft’s servers for you. You can then download and install that official file.

Here’s how to get and install the Xbox Game Streaming (Test App):

How to Stream Xbox Series X|S Games to PC

Once you have installed the Xbox Game Streaming (Test App), you’re ready to start streaming games from your Xbox Series X or S to your PC over your home network. This feature works just like Xbox One streaming in the old Xbox Console Companion app, with a visual design that’s very similar to the Android app that allows you to stream Xbox Series X|S games to your phone.

Navigate to the store.rg-adguard.net website.

Paste https://www.microsoft.com/p/xbox-game-streaming-test-app/9nzbpvpnldgm?activatetab=pivot:overviewtab&rtc=1 into the search field, and click the check mark.

Right click Microsoft.XboxGameStreaming-ContentTest_1.2011.3001.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe.appxbundle in the search results, and click Save link as to download the file.
